A few days before Christmas I was walking to work (yes, I can occasionally walk…as long as I’m escorted) and I happened across a puppy struggling to get out of the roadside ditch. It’s little puppy paws barely reached the top of the ditch, so there was no way out.
Of course I jumped into the ditch, heels and all, and scooped up the puppy. What I didn’t see or hear coming, thanks to my chador (headscarf), was momma dog who was none too happy with me. Fortunately my escort shooed her away as I plopped the puppy down on his wobbly little legs.
Ya, it was all over – I want a dog so bad I can’t stand it!!! Momma dog quit growling long enough to sniff the pup, making sure he was okay…all the while keeping one eye on me. Now, when I walk to work, I carry some little treat for momma dog – a bit of bread with egg, leftovers or whatever else I can find.
Should have been none too surprised to find that my “Tiny Tim” has a litter, five strong that sleeps piled up in a hole in a compound wall. I took a short video, but my bandwidth can’t support uploading it…so here are a few stills from the video…

Awww, what a sweet story. I would imagine that the momma dog is a stray and has no home, right? I bet you would like to keep one of those puppies but Chelbie would be jealous you know 🙂
Love you,
Auntie
