I’ve never paid attention to eggs. When I was a kid I collected them from the chicken coop, but I never thought about how long they’d last.
The most consideration I ever gave an egg was when I was about 6-years-old and I tried to rescue and hatch an egg from the eggs mom had purchased from Safeway and stored in the fridge. Alas, mom discovered the aging egg nestled in a sock bed over my heater vent, and the experiment was over!
Here in Afghanistan I’ve opened, and a subsequently tossed, quite a few suspect eggs before I finally learned a trick. Eggs that are turning bad, float while fresh eggs, sink. At least I hope that’s true! I’m only eating the sinking eggs!

Bad egg up. Good egg down! ...despite expiry dates printed on the shells, one still has to check.

Great photo! You could sell your invention!
Also, putting wax on them will help them to keep for a long time. We used to do that when going on extended camping trips!
I’m quite sure you’d know if you were eating the bad eggs and throwing out the good ones!
Thought you might find this useful information regarding your old eggs:
