So the shopping began in earnest yesterday afternoon. With my looming departure, I realize that all the brilliant things I passed up while window shopping will only be available for another 24 hours.
I decided to start the day at MBK – a multi-floor bazzar! In the open areas and isles are little kiosks selling everything from Thai tourist trinkets to purses. They’ve got it all. One of the upper floors is packed with mini-stall selling electronics – everything from I-Phones to I-Pots to Hello Kitty phones. What a kick!
There is a massive store anchoring all the floors on the far end of the mall called Tokyu – that’s where I found this yummy purse. 🙂
After I picked up my suits today I finished off my shopping with a trip to Central World, the largest mall I’ve been into. I’ve been there several times in the past few weeks and have enjoyed the variety of stores – the cinema (where I watched an edited version of Sex and the City…PG at least) – and restaurants. The other amazing thing is that there is always something going on.
When I first arrived a few weeks back, they were just stetting up an exhibit called “Earth from Above” – an amazing display of aerial photographs from around the world. (http://www.earthfromabove.com/) That was an outdoor installation. Inside there are additional display and installations at every turn. From the televised cook-off to the ballet school whose students took to the stage – this is the place to be.
You can eat yourself to death – the Haagen Dazs place alone could just do you in. They have a ice cream fondue for two that looks out of this world!
Wendy (a friend who use to work in Portland -but is now in CAR) and I ended the day with a long walk to find a brilliant little Italian restaurant. Lovely meal – even better conversation – was in need of some girl chat! 🙂
We ended a very long day with a massage at a little walk-in place near the restaurant. A whole hour for about $6. Neck and shoulders have never felt better!
(Looking a little drowsy and very relaxed…!)
