Bangkok is a noisy town. Even the elements are noisy – even the rain rolls through with deafening sound, pounding each available surface like a drum. Rain is often accompanied by thunder – loud cracks and peals rip through the city momentarily drowning out the incessant sound of the tuk-tuks, motorcycles and omnipresent taxis and trucks. Commerce is thriving! There are little shops on every corner – and covering most of the sidewalks as well. Seems everyone has something to sell or hawk. Great care goes into putting up stalls along side streets – on a daily basis. [Photo: A little on-street dentistry.]
Apparently spading and neutering are not widely practiced here in Bangkok. Wild packs of dogs and cats wander the street – preferring to sleep during the heat of the day. It is so hot here, they tend to be completely passed out – so relatively safe. Though, without my rabies vaccine, I’m not taking any chances.
I was surprised to round a corner and find graffiti – it wasn’t until I saw this masterpiece that I realized that there really isn’t any graffiti in Bangkok.
