Skipped Sphere standards and checked my email. Not many email on Myanmar – so caught up with general. Got news from Mika that Chelbi and Rita are getting on fine and that Chelbi is in love with Wojtek (Rita’s boyfriend)! Nearly cried when I got that message – what a huge relief that you dog is being well looked after!
Made it back to camp for the Site Management training – the how to set up a refugee camp. It was interesting, but completely uncoordinated! Not from the training side, but from the group…we couldn’t decide who was on first. I’m trying not to lead out too much, but I get in the way of that sometimes! It was a little chaotic.
In the afternoon we went to a camp to check it out based on what we had learned earlier that morning. I ended up in Berebere – a disbursement camp intended to ease the overcrowding
from larger camps. I partnered with Tendayi, a logistician from our program in Zimbabwe.
Tendayi and I checked out the Water/Sanitation issues in the camp. The water supply seemed more than adequate – but the latrine situation was pretty sad – something like 50 people/latrine. It was great that I partnered with Tendayi – because he ended up translating English into English…they understood him, but were completely confounded by me! 🙂
