The trip began well enough!

I called Richard Jacquot (a favorite colleague traveling at the same time and on the same airline as I) from the Portland airport…only to discover that he was already waiting in Seattle to get on the same flight as I to Amsterdam and then on to Entebbe. He was great company on the flight as well as throughout the layover.

Though I have only one bag, it is heavy enough. I packed everything on the list GEO (MC’s Global Emergency Operations) sent us. I’ve got the spare shoe laces, rain gear etc. The bag is an Eagle Creek bag so it will expand to hold nearly anything I am likely to buy while I’m gone! 🙂
